IT Does What?

The IT guys did either a server update or update to all the CADstations. Monday morning, AutoCAD was no longer associated with DWG files. The update also wiped out the license key in the NitroPDF software on each of the machines. Updates shouldn't break such things. Who knows what else waits for us.

Coworker has loaded a Revit building to start the 3D design effort. Several people out today for orientation/training. I have lots of questions about Revit but at this point it has more to do with folder structure that may be required. Our current scheme is \CAD\Mech, \CAD\Elec and \CAD\Plum for each disciplines drawing files. \CAD\Xref is for the background drawings used for MEP with subfolders for storing updates. With Revit, it might remain the same or need to change.

One IT guy came by yesterday letting me know he was having problems rolling out Vista SP1 and asked me to install it manually. I downloaded from our server location to the local hard drive, all 434MB of it. Still haven't tried an install. I'm tempted to wait until Sunday to allow plenty of time. I'll be in the office anyway so rolling an upgrade might be a good time waster.
